Zur Aufführung kamen "Don Quijote" mit Anna Pavlova als Kitry sowie Divertissements, in No. 2 Anna Pavlova als Sterbender Schwan.

 

 

 

 

Auszug aus diesem Heft:

 

"Schwebend, entschwindend und bald wieder erscheinend, durchsichtig wie ein Phantom, scheint sie die Gestalt einer Nymphe aus dem Zauberreich. Ihre weiten Aufflüge entführen sie der Erde, entgegen allen Gesetzen der Physik.

Die besondere Eigenart ihres Talentes ist in ihrem immateriellen Wesen verborgen, das sie von allem was auf der Erde lebt wegzureissen scheint. Sie wurde zur Prinzessin eines verzauberten Landes, die über Wald-, Luft- und Wassernymphen herrscht, zur Prinzessin eines wundervollen Märchenreiches von Träumen und Schemen, die kommen und entschweben.

Pawlowa ist es gelungen, den Geist des Tanzes selbst in ihrer Person zu verkörpern, und das ist ihr Genie.

Victor Dandré wrote that Pavlova died a half hour past midnight on Friday, 23 January 1931, with her maid Marguerite Létienne, Dr. Zalevsky, and himself at her bedside. Her last words were, "Get my 'Swan' costume ready." Dandré and Létienne dressed her body in her favorite beige lace dress and placed her in a coffin with a sprig of lilac.

In accordance with old ballet tradition, on the day she was to have next performed, the show went on, as scheduled, with a single spotlight circling an empty stage where she would have been.

Anna Pavlova starb in einem Zimmer des Hotel des Indes in Den Haag. Am 18. August 2016 standen wir davor.

Kleine Tour durchs Reich der Verdammten. Es muß mal gesagt werden. The Damned haben 1985-1986 mit "Phantasmagoria" und "Anything" zwei Platten gemacht (und dazwischen "Eloise"), die so klingen, als hätte die Tochter von Bela Lugosi und Maila Nurmi Dave Vanian gezwungen, die besten Songs aller Zeiten zu schreiben, andernfalls sie ihn wie Turandot ihre Freier köpfen lasse. Vanian tat sein Bestes, und für Sachen wie "Sanctum Sanctorum" oder "The Portrait" wäre gar Lord Byron nochmal angerannt gekommen, wäre er nicht mit dem Luziferfuß umgeknickt. Dave Vanian hat zweifelsohne eine phantastische Stimme.

"Oh yeah, he's quite a strong bloke old Dave. He actually really used to be a grave digger. He really lives the lifestyle. I know it sounds weird but he really is into it. The whole lifestyle, the motorbikes, the ex-grave digger bit and all that stuff. I like the bloke a lot, he's a bit of an enigma. I think he's tinged with madness. I really think he is, because of the twenty years I've known him he's never changed and he's always backed up whatever he said. Once I went round his house, he was living in a basement and he'd had a flood. I said " 'ello Dave how's it going " - He said "The drains have flooded, can you help me get this carpet out". Actual sewage had come up through the drains and it wasn't very pleasant. We got the carpet out and I said "What's that under there then, that's a pentagram. Is that like satanic stuff or what?" And he says "It must have been put down by the previous owners of the flat". Now does that ring true to you, the bloke sitting there dressed up as Dracula, with a hearse sitting outside the house and he's telling me it must have been someone else who done the pentagram.
